Field Drawing 01

This exercise explores the transformation of two Bezier curves in a 2D space. The first curve is white and the second one is black; initially they are positioned at the opposite side of the canvas in respect to each other. Each curve takes four input parameters -velocity, position, color and opacity. When the white curve gets denser on the canvas (dominates visually), the black curve seems to appear more visible gradually creating an emerging balance in pattern. It goes same for the black curves as when it get denser the white curves take over and create balance. The entire system is an dynamic system in linear motion generating a coherent figure-ground relationship. A system which always thrive to achieve a balance in the composition and continuously evolving, creating an interchangeable spatial relationships.

In nature, it is difficult to find a linear motion. However, in this computer generated animation we can see that through linear motions with a very few rules applied on the curves a dynamic yet systematical formation can be achieved. It is dynamic, emerging but at the same time systematic; and all these features can be analyzed by observing its evolving patterns. With reference to this sort of exercise a Double Pendulum Motion also creates a dynamic system which was studied by scientists and mathematicians to describe chaos. However, they are different in nature but deeply connected as a system.
